What are differences between Plato and Descartes' ideas of true knowledge is innate?

Plato said: we remember true knowledge from past lives (and we had past lives because we are immortal--don't ask what happened in the first life). Furthermore, one cannot learn the truth by using the senses

Descartes is a bit more complicated: I don't think he said that true knowledge is innate. He did say, however, that we can discover true knowledge by avoiding mistakes (mistakes, in his argument, are the conclusion of our infinite free will combined with limited understanding) and waiting until we are certain of something to assert something as true or false. What are differences between Plato and Descartes' ideas of true knowledge is innate?
Plato subscribed to a 'theory of recollection' meaning basically that the soul is immortal and you never 'learn' anything, you only recall what you knew in a past life (a past body with the same soul). Descartes i'm not sure about.
