Wizards/witches does this not show true knowledge of magic?

I believe that is a wonderful answer that dispells much misinformation within magic and Wicca. I tire of seeing so much misinformation on the internet, more wizards need to to do more about this by outlining what is true and what simply nit true. What do you think of it? I have posted it below;

There is far too much misinformation. Examples include a prayer is like a spell. A prayer is asking Gods to intervene in your life, personally communicating with Gods regarding things you cannot achieve yourself. A prayer can be for help, guidance, protection, intercession, thanks etc. However the point is that a prayer is relying on the power of Gods to affect and make changes in your life.

A spell is a set of words, incantation or formula with magical potency. A spell is using the magical power possessed within the wizard or witch to bring about the change or desired effect. Magic comes from within so there is no need to appeal to Gods in order to practice magic; cast spells.

Sometimes spells are not appropriate as the object is too indistinct or unspecific and a spell would be ineffective. Also, being specific and knowing when a spell is appropriate is important. If your wish is not clear or specific enough then your spell may not work properly or may not work at all. It is in cases such as these that I would pray or use other magical means. However prayers are separate to spells they do not work in the same way.

Also some wrongly think that one must invoke magic in order to use it. Invoking is calling upon Deities or spirits for help or inspiration; this is NOT a necessity in magic. Magic is not invoked it comes from within the wizard or witch. The practice of a few religious wizards or witches does not change the nature of a spell. What some do not realise is that they know not what a spell is and when in truth they are praying they think it is a spell.

Some believe magic is a religious practice, wizard and witch are religious titles and order to practice magic one must understand religious principles. These are all fallacies. Religion and magic are not synonymous. The two do not go hand in hand. Wizards are born magical, with their magical ability within them, regardless of their religion or lack of it. There are no religious principles in magic as it is not a religion. The religion of the wizard has no bearing on magic. Wizard and witch are magical terms to refer to magicians, or practitioners of magic. They are not titles like Doctor or Professor. One does not earn them; one is born a wizard or witch. They are merely descriptions like man or woman. Witch is to wizard what woman is to man. Their equal counterpart.

Another thing I have observed is that some believe that spells cast for personal gain will not work or incur serious penalties. Again this is utter falsehood. Magic is used for many purposes; this is a case of people imposing their personal or religious principles on magical practice. We all get back what we give out regardless of whether it is good or bad. However this is not exclusive to magic. Also this is not a view that all would share and cannot impose it upon anyone. One cannot speak for all so in the case of saying that magic used for personal gain is invalid demonstrates little knowledge of magic. It makes me think of a question I asked regarding pagans views of Wicca and some said they thought of the television programme Charmed. The programme does mention this idea regarding personal gain within magic, I wonder if those that believe this know that Charmed is not an accurate portrayal of magic.

A lot of the misinformation, especially recently, I have seen has been on Yahoo Answers from answerers giving such misinformation. What is more worrying is that some in the magical community are not bothered by the amount of misinformation or even say they have not noticed it. Also, I have noticed that some when answering questions on magic, say they are Wiccan as if that gives them some authority on magic and then go onto tell them about the law of three or that spells must adhere to Wiccan principle. This is somewhat amusing as my mother has used spells for over forty years, her mother for even longer, they are not Wiccan nor do they follow Wiccan principle and have encountered no difficulties as a result. Wicca is only about fifty years old, magic has been practiced for thousands of years and predates it so why does Wicca seem to have authority over magic? It doesn't. Magic is practiced by people from all walks of life, religious, irreligious, atheist, theist etc.Wizards/witches does this not show true knowledge of magic?
I think I know who posted this answer. It is quite honestly the most thorough answer I have read and is indeed wonderful. More people should do the same; dispel the myths. Also, as was highlighted in this question there are still some misinformed people that say wizards do not exist! Do they know anything about magic? Surely they must not know the meaning of the word for them to say such a thing. If you are magical you are a wizard, regardless of your gender. The etymology of the word is self evident. What is also apparent is that some do not know when magic ends and Wicca begins, as they are presented as a package to them and willing to accept all they are told despite the fact that Wicca is only fifty years old so how can it have authority on magic. Most, if not all, of the misinformation mentioned as well as others stems from Wicca and shows that Wicca seems to have alternate views on magic which in many cases conflict with the truth. I have over forty years of magical experience so now what I speak of when talking of magic. However the truth, that I come from a magical background does not mean that I simply know more about magic. It is because I have studied long and hard and know that there is much misinformation.Wizards/witches does this not show true knowledge of magic?
Im a woman, can I be a wizard too?
Yes.It shows true knowledge of magic at how you were able to add so many details to your question.....
I have been a pagan for 40 years and I will say this again..THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A WIZARD!!!!!! you are born with abilities or you never have them..end of ,no scene from charmed are real...wicca is a modern day religion, there are HEREDITARY hedge witches and covens, you will never be invited into them, you will never be one of them, you cannot learn';magick'; from a book unless it is a grimoire and you have some one from your family line to teach you...all else is fantasy and hollywood Bulls**t.....

Dr what, you are the man...earth magick is the term I prefer but I still think you either have it or you don't....

... those who insist on calling themselves wizards are fools, yes I am a spiritual snob of kinds, and yes Gerald Gardener and his ';crew';did come up with wicca,it did not predate the concept Gardiner came up with and is only about 50-60 years old fact!!

I have stood before so called witches and sensed their abilities or should I say lack of and one ran a ';coven';...

When the will and the word is used by people with abilities there is a vast difference between someone scampering around a circle calling on deities that have nothing to do with the persons culture, country etc you are just taking the piss..many people will disagree with me and think I am some high brow snob, that is not the case, you can lead a usefull paganistic lifestyle without trying to be some magickal fantasist who believes they can create ';magick'; otherwise eons ago everyone would of been a druid or priest, which they most obviousley were not....the truth hurts, but it's still the truth...peace
the problems are Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed. everyone sees paganism, including wiccans, as these types of characters. No amount of recitation of bad poetry will ever equal true, from the soul, magic. magic comes from the belief that something will happen if a certain ritual is observed for the spell. Not in every case. I find magic works better when I give a ceremony in the spirit of the moment and not a ceremony that someone has written out. following a premade ceremony is like going to mass ... ick ...

paganism is the dance in the forest, not the written instructions on how to dance.
Very interesting indeed.I'm not a wiccian but rather a spiritual satanist and where the original pagans and we use real magic. Our magic rely on our own powers not the powers of our gods.Everyone has the same powers but there locked away. Also no one religion has authority over magic,I have studied there magic and laws, they make no sense, the three fold law is a lie,I know.No one religion has authority over magic.

Edit:Before anyone says anything about my beliefs read about it first.joyofsatan.org
Interesting... however I've never known a male witch to call himself a wizard (or worse... warlock)... he's still witch.

Well it's better than a lot of the ';goodness and light'; fluff I've seen on Y!A, but there are a few details that I disagree with.
Wicca is not 50 years old - it became POPULARIZED in the 1950's by Gardner. He did not invent it. Everyone is born with abilities but most do not develop them. Does that mean everyone is a wizard???? When trying to explain spells to others, it is easiest to compare it to something they can comprehend easily (reference to prayer-like does not mean it IS prayer). And I've never seen Wiccans claiming to have complete authority over magic - most just mention the ethical use of magic. Get a grip.
it's really easy to copy and pasted. i don't think that you guys understand the true nature of magic. seek from within not from without.

i really think that if you want true magic learn science cuz that's all that it is and actually magic is just psychological thing if tell some one something like i put a cures on you and this is what will happen then all the stuff you told them happens believe me i have put it into play many times.

and some times you can manifest things if you understand your mind first. and believe
