Atheists seek truth. We are not to judge the whole by the few. Many atheists are well researched truth seeking people just like Christians. Many Christians have never read the Bible, don't know much scripture but are more certain than those that do. I believe though atheists are less along the path towards truth because I believe the Bible is truth.
I believe they are atheist for a few reasons. Yet some of them won't remain atheist forever. Many atheist come to the truth.





They are atheist because they are full of unbelief. That's what it boils down to. Unbelief. They refuse to believe the truth, because the devil has blinded them to the gospel. So they love lies and hate the truth. Some will be saved, others will be condemned.
That is definitley not always the reason, some people believe in the big bang, that is atheist. Some are scientific beliefs, but not necessarily the reason why. The way you worded your question makes it sound like we (christians) are condemming them for less knowledge, that isn't true. It is choice. Free will. Do I and God wish that they would come to christ? Yes, but God gave us free will because he loves us. It is all about free will not always biblical knowledge.
Why are you generalizing like this?? I don't think atheists come to the conclusions they do because they have poor knowledge, but that they reject what they are told about God. As they have no physical evidence to consider it.
Give a pop quiz about the Bible to a Christian, and give the same one to an atheist, and the atheist will blow the Christian away.

I don't think so. If the Christians just put the bible down and back away from it...they will see that it is only a book; little ink symbols on paper, bundled together. It doesn't do miracles or call on a mysterious entity...it's just words.
I actually became an atheist when I was attending seminary for my MDiv. I had intended on becoming an ordained pastor. It wasn't until I began studying the bible in depth that I realized what a load of BS it was.
no, it is not. i read and studied the bible for about a year and decided it had no proof for its claims. altho i do believe there was a jesus, he is not the son of god
I don't believe that atheists become atheists because of a ';poor knowledge'; of the Bible. They are atheists because they choose to be whether or not they believe what the Bible says.
It's certainly not true for me. In fact becoming knowledgeable of all the things the bible says, not just those mentioned by the church was one of the major reasons I gave up religion.
The ones who make such claims are being dishonest - either deliberately or out of ignorance.





Many atheists know the bible better than many christians.
We understand the Bible better than most Christians, in general.

That's one reason. Another reason is because they're afraid of guilt - they'd rather pump up the narcotics, have one night stands and in the process play Russian roulette w/ their private parts, drink the night away and so on... without regards to the repercussions. People don't want to feel guilty for their actions. But there's a reason why you should feel guilty... this is how morality is preserved.
