True that the more you gain knowledge the more pain you get?

NO ITS NOT TRUE. knowledge is power and certain types of knowledge are really powerful. theresa phrase the ';truth will set u free'; well knowledge will also set u free';.Like for example u have the knowledge to acccess the internet.Look at how interesting life becomes.U know ur choices ur options. Sure in life there is pain and frustration but thats usually because of bad government or the way others treat us.

knowledge can cause us to have to confront and change our mind about things we previously believed its just an uncomfortable transition sometimes froma state of ignorance to a state of fuller understanding.

A life without reflection or the persuit of knowledge is hardly worth living.True that the more you gain knowledge the more pain you get?
Yes. But your better of because you have knowledge.True that the more you gain knowledge the more pain you get?
Not necessarily; if you gain as much knowledge as you can while developing a vaccine to prevent a nasty virus or bacteria to damage or destroy your life then you can say that knowledge is preventing pain.

The same applies to knowledge being used to prevent ignorance hurting us in many ways.

The secret is to use knowledge in a wise way to avoid being overwhelmed by it.
Yes-In the beginning until you fully realize your highest self. Because people in ignorance are unaware of the real suffering and futility of this material world. They don't know that We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies. This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. We fell here due to envying Gods position. He made the material world for those who want to try to live separately from Him (Which is impossible because He is actually everywhere). After many lifetimes of trying to be happy in this temporary world, one becomes frustrated and board and begins to question their existence. We then seek out real happiness, and when one becomes sincere God reveals how to come back Home. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga), which begins with the chanting of the Maha Mantra, (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion), which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life, they can give up all material attachments and fully surrender to God and return to the eternal Kingdom, where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. I am so glad I know now. For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com can be read on line.
Well that is one way, but its the hard way.

Love and blessings Don
not really.. you just need to use that knowledge to something easier and painless e.g. something good and something that is right...
depends what kind of pain, emotional or in the body, headaches might be an effect
Not for me, no.
I don't think so....spending your life in gaining knowledge of engineering, or physics can lead to a rich life if you have the wisdom to spend your time with loved ones and family as well.

Enriching your knowledge of tomfoolery would end up painful particularly if you think that the details of the Jedi are worthy of a scholastic pursuit!! In the end you have nothing and that itself can be very painful.

Yet spending your life gaining knowledge of the scriptures can be highly beneficial, even until death!

Knowledge of current events and worldwide politics, the social atmosphere of the global situation, and the study of global warming? Hell that's as painful as a ready made hell in the back of a dusty old library.

I think it's the knowledge you go looking for that would cause the pain. Not knowledge itself, but what you subject you subject yourself to.
I'd say that the more pain and the more gain! You didn't learn to walk without bruises... pain is a result of learning. The more you know and the less you know. Therefore it becomes harder and more painful. You must think deeper, and so on...

Take care!
No, I have learned all about the Marianas trench and I have no pain.

But the closer to true WISDOM, the more likely you will be depressed.
I don't know if thats a quote but according to my low knowledge. The more knowledge we get the more we should practise or use it to help ourselves and others.
I believe that's where the phrase ';blissfully stupid' comes from.
I believe so. This world can be quite cruel and evil at times, and though I am only twenty, I like to think that I know quite a bit about the world. I fear terrorist attacks, and the fact that Social Security won't be there for me when I'm ready to retire, etc. A five year old kid, on the other hand, fears very little outside of his (or her) immediate world -- they just don't know any better. That's my opinion, anyway.
Well, if ignorance is bliss and what you can't see can't hurt you, then yes.
Knowledge without understanding and wisdom is as having a car in the desert with a full gas tank but being unable to drive or understand what the keys are for.

In one sense there is pain with the acquisition of wisdom and knowledge and understanding. But it is only temporary as we are weaned off the illusion we have been presented with by the powers of the world. If a person is attached to the physical possessions of this life, or has faith in any man made institutions, then they are going to be bitterly disappointed on the day they find the truth. But knowledge to be useful must be knowledge of the truth because knowledge of the false tends to give an equally false sense of security. And as Shakespeare wrote in Macbeth - ';we all know security is mortals chiefest enemy';.
In a way. Not physical pain...but emotional, psychological...yes.

With knowledge comes responsibility. In choosing that which is right, there is a kind of, well not quite pain, but emotional/psychological process that often is uncomfortable. Knowing how much harm is being done to someone, somewhere, knowing the consequences of selfish choice, knowing, anything, is an awesome responsibility.
not necessarily, depends on the individual. Knowledge gives you more tools with which to deal with pain. If you use those tools effectively I have to believe the pain can be lessened.

For example, knowing that time really does heal a broken heart makes that time go even faster.
the more you learn the more you realize how much you don't know
Personally i think so very much. Even though i'm only 15, i have seen a lot more then what the average kid my age have seen. From experience, i can tell you that i was probably much happier when i was 5, not a care in the world except probably what candy i can get at the market. Now there is so much more things to worry about like grades, family, money, school, etc.

Also things i saw such as death and other experiences seems to make the world such an unforgiving place, and sometimes i wish i'd never known these things
';Knowledge is power';, along with power comes a certain responsibility and choice. This is where ';Pain'; in knowledge becomes a reality or illusion.

CHOICE, the greatest gift bestowed upon us.

It is how you choose to use this knowledge and how you choose to express this knowledge that will determine if you realize the ';pain'; of knowledge or see the illusion, as we gain knowledge, we grow in person.

As we share this knowledge we grow in Spirit, as we learn more from this knowledge we see the infinite possibilities in life.

~BLESSINGS~DIVINE LOVE HEALING LIGHT TO ALL~
It is true... The more you get to be aware of things, the more you will suffer.

Note to Everyday... the guy that just posted) Have you ever heard of Socrates? One tip, dont assume you know. The ones that know are the ones that know they know nothing.
I'd say the more knowlegde the less amount of pain.

I mean, the more you understand things, the more reasonable it seems.
Perhaps the pursuit of knowledge can seem painful at times, but actually gaining knowledge is freeing, calming. To paraphrase a great thinker, ';only a wise person knows what a fool he (still) is';.
Well its like this, 'no brain no pain'
No way!! I think the more knowledge the truth is better than to be lied to.
